
CHAMPION CHEERLEADERS – March 2025
A huge congratulations to our two Lower Sixth students who recently returned from competing at the National Cheerleading Association All Star Nationals in Texas, which is one of the biggest competitive cheer competitions in the world. Their team “Twisted” made history for Storm Athletics and are now NCA National Champions. They were the highest scoring Level 1 team of the whole competition, and now Grand Champions! “Twisted” also had the 3rd highest score out of the teams that were registered….all 1712 of them!

WE’RE GOOD!! – 2025
We are absolutely delighted to announce that following our Ofsted inspection in January 2025, King’s Academy Bay House has been rated ‘Good’ in all areas! The inspectors quoted “Pupils regularly rise to meet the school’s high expectations, particularly in the Sixth Form, where students study diligently and achieve strong outcomes.” Here’s to even greater success in the future!

TO INFINITY AND BEYOND – 28th-31st January 2025
Our 13th annual STEAM trip to Disneyland Paris took place in January. This excursion was offered to our A-Level STEAM students. In addition to exploring two incredible theme parks, students participated in a unique seminar led by Disneyland Imagineers. This included behind-the-scenes video interviews and footage created exclusively by our host Study Experiences. Students also had the chance to use a new app, which included “Feel the Force,” which allowed them to measure and interpret the forces experienced on the various rides. One student quoted “It was interesting to find out the behind-the-scenes of Disney, such as the physics behind the rides, how they created the Disney light and firework show and how important the biodiversity is in the parks.” Another said “Disney was an amazing trip to go on and I learned a lot about how the rides work, such as how the Avengers Flight Force use electromagnets to go from 0 to 58mph in 2.6s.”

LET IT SNOW – 18th-25th January 2025
Last week saw some of our Sixth Form students away in Pra Loup, France on the ever popular annual Ski Trip. They were lucky to have had lots of sunshine, plenty of snow and definitely had loads of fun!

SHOOTING TOWARDS SUCCESS – 25th & 26th January 2025
Congratulations to our Lower Sixth student Ariane, who has been selected for the “rifle pathway” academy for the 2032 Olympic Games! Ariane only took up air-rifle shooting in the last 12 months but has demonstrated a natural ability for the sport. During Summer 2024 she was sent for trials with British Shooting – the target shooting governing body for Great Britain, and has been selected as one of only 38 people across Great Britain, to be chosen for the “rifle pathway” academy for Olympic aspirations. She has shown she has the potential to be trained to world class standards under the guidance of British Shooting. Ariane is taking part in the Geoff Partridge Memorial and NISC Championships and Open Air Rifle and Pistol competition in Wolverhampton on the 25th & 26th January, which is part of her pathway requirements. We wish her the best of luck in the competition and on her Olympic journey!

OXFORD UNIVERSITY TRIP – 15th January 2025
On Wednesday 15th january, some of our Lower Sixth students had the amazing chance to to visit the exceptional St Hilda’s College, University of Oxford. They had the opportunity to talk to current students, experience a class with one of the tutors and ask plenty of questions about the Oxbridge application process and what studying at university is like.

TAKING ON THE REST OF THE WORLD – 7th December 2024
Congratulations to our Upper Sixth student Harrison, who has been selected to represent Eggchaser Academy in the prestigious Global Youth 7s event being held in Auckland, New Zealand from 7th December – 17th December. The Global youth 7s tournament is one of the most competitive youth rugby events in the world, bringing together elite players from different countries to compete on a global stage. The squad of 14, which have been chosen from 1000s of players around the UK, will play renowned teams such as the All Blacks, Australia, Japan and the USA. It is widely regarded as the pinnacle of under 18s rugby globally.

A WORK OF ART – 6th-8th December 2024
Kings Academy Bay House Sixth Form Art & Textiles Exhibition was held at Fort Brockhurst from 6th – 8th December. This was a great opportunity for our Sixth Form students to inspire and showcase their amazing work to the public in a historic setting. On opening night, over 150 people visited and showed their support to this fantastic exhibition.

DO PRISONS WORK? – 5th December 2024
On Thursday 5th December the Governor of Winchester Prison visited Bay House Sixth Form to speak to our Social Science students. He shared many statistics that students found shocking, such as 50% of his prisoners never receive a single visitor, letter or phone call during their sentence. He also spoke about the aims of prison and whether these are being achieved. The students had the opportunity to ask Mr Bourke questions about whether the prison system in England is really working and led to many interesting discussions on what changes our society needs to make to support offenders and reduce reoffending rates.

“FIND YOUR FUTURE” – 4th December 2024
King’s Academy Bay House were delighted to hold their “Find your Future” event on Wednesday 4th December. The event was fully inclusive and connected over 2000 young people, including our Sixth Formers, with employers, colleges and universities. Our students were able to have valuable conversations with various companies and organisations to help give them an idea for their future pathways.

LONDON’S CALLING – 4th December 2024
On Wednesday 4th December, 44 politics students headed to London for a tour of the Supreme Court, Westminster and Whitehall including the Cenotaph, Downing Street, Horse Guards Parade and Trafalgar Square before returning to Parliament for a tour and workshop. One student reported “The trip to Parliament was very enjoyable and informative. We had the chance to have a private tour around both Houses of Parliament, as well as the Supreme Court. We were able to watch a debate in the House of Commons and also able to meet Kim Leadbeater, Lord Mackinlay and our local MP Dame Caroline Dinenage.” Another student commented “The Parliament trip was an amazing opportunity for all politics students. Learning about and seeing it in person are two completely different things.”

STUDENT UNION SUCCESS – 7th November 2024
Our Student Union Charity and Events Fundraising Officers were delighted to welcome Dame Caroline Dinenage and Rachel Webber, who presented them with a cheque for the funds raised during our recent Wear It Pink Day on Thursday 17th October for breast cancer awareness. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this meaningful cause, your support helped raise a fantastic £423.38!
