Headteacher’s Message

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

It is with immense pleasure that I welcome you to King’s Academy Bay House and King’s Academy Bay House Sixth Form.

Our commitment is to deliver an exceptional education, driven by our bold mission: to secure ‘Opportunity and Success on a Global Stage‘ for every member of our community. We are dedicated to providing the knowledge, skills, and character development needed to thrive anywhere in the world.

This ambitious mission is built upon the foundation of our three core values: Honesty, Courage, and Faith. These values shape the ethos of happiness, success, and safety that thrives in every corner of our Academy.

Our Values in Action

  • Honesty – We prioritise behaviours that promote transparency and truthfulness, always seeking what is best for all at KABH. We debate ideas openly and are not afraid to recognise mistakes, understanding that they are essential for learning and growth. This culture of open honesty ensures everyone feels happy, successful, and safe, able to express their thoughts and ideas without fear.
  • Courage – We instil the courage needed to face challenges head-on and adapt. This means we embrace diversity and champion inclusivity, creating a truly welcoming place. We demonstrate courage by engaging fully with feedback through resilience and self-regulation, and by being happy to ask questions when we are not sure. This is how we push beyond our perceived limits.
  • Faith – We hold an unwavering belief in the difference we can all make. Faith underpins our culture of safety; we are trusting and respectful to our whole community, making it safe to share concerns and make mistakes. We encourage others through kindness to have faith in their own abilities, knowing that resilience and self-regulation will fuel their curiosity and exploration.

Securing Excellence Together

Excellence at KABH is a journey we embark on together. Our passionate educators provide a challenging and stimulating academic environment, equipping you with the personalised skills necessary to excel academically and in the world beyond these walls.

As the Headteacher, I am excited to lead this journey with you. Together, grounded in Honesty, Courage, and Faith, we continue to drive outstanding Opportunity and Success on a Global Stage for our whole community.

Warm regards,

Chris Willis – Headteacher – King’s Academy Bay House

Ten of our Sixth Form students recently took part in an intensive two-day work experience workshop, gaining a valuable insight into careers within the Civil Service.

Throughout the programme, students explored how government departments operate, including how departmental budgets are managed, while learning about the prestigious Civil Service Fast Stream and the wide range of career pathways available.

Students also received invaluable advice on the skills, behaviours and competencies needed to secure employment within the Civil Service, helping them to better understand the opportunities available after Sixth Form and university.

Experiences like this play an important role in broadening students' career aspirations, developing employability skills and helping them make informed decisions about their future.

A fantastic opportunity to learn from professionals and gain first-hand insight into one of the UK's largest employers.

The trainers commented:
"We delivered the In-School Civil Service Work Experience programme for the first time, and we could not have been more fortunate to be placed at King's Academy Bay House. It was a real pleasure to deliver the presentation to your students and to see how engaged they were throughout. They are incredibly bright, thoughtful, and articulate young people, and I have no doubt that they have a very bright future ahead of them."

"Having always wanted to join the civil service after university, this programme was an invaluable experience giving me a greater insight into the different tasks a civil servant would undertake and the skills needed to perform said tasks. The activities were also very engaging, making presentations on departmental budget allocation and policy making initiatives. Overall, it was an incredible experience for someone looking into a career in the public sector." Charlie

"The civil service work experience programme was a fantastic opportunity which gave us a deep understanding into the roles of the civil service, employability skills and government spending. Acting as Chancellor for the day was really interesting and gave us an insight into how difficult it is to allocate limited funding across 14 departments. The visitors who ran the programme were super knowledgeable, friendly and made the experience really enjoyable." James

Our Final Hot Chocolate Friday of the Year

Today we celebrated the final Hot Chocolate Friday of the school year—a special opportunity to recognise and reward pupils who have gone above and beyond.

Throughout the year, Hot Chocolate Friday has celebrated students who have demonstrated kindness, resilience, commitment, leadership and outstanding contributions to school life. From academic achievements and sporting success to creative accomplishments and acts of kindness, it has been a wonderful way to recognise the many ways our pupils make King's Academy Bay House such a special community.

Today's celebration was a fitting way to end another fantastic year, giving us the chance to reflect on the incredible achievements of our students and celebrate all they have accomplished.

A huge congratulations to everyone who has been invited to Hot Chocolate Friday this year. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you and look forward to celebrating many more successes next year.

Well done to all of our amazing pupils, and have a fantastic summer!
