Headteacher’s Message

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

It is with immense pleasure that I welcome you to King’s Academy Bay House and King’s Academy Bay House Sixth Form.

Our commitment is to deliver an exceptional education, driven by our bold mission: to secure ‘Opportunity and Success on a Global Stage‘ for every member of our community. We are dedicated to providing the knowledge, skills, and character development needed to thrive anywhere in the world.

This ambitious mission is built upon the foundation of our three core values: Honesty, Courage, and Faith. These values shape the ethos of happiness, success, and safety that thrives in every corner of our Academy.

Our Values in Action

  • Honesty – We prioritise behaviours that promote transparency and truthfulness, always seeking what is best for all at KABH. We debate ideas openly and are not afraid to recognise mistakes, understanding that they are essential for learning and growth. This culture of open honesty ensures everyone feels happy, successful, and safe, able to express their thoughts and ideas without fear.
  • Courage – We instil the courage needed to face challenges head-on and adapt. This means we embrace diversity and champion inclusivity, creating a truly welcoming place. We demonstrate courage by engaging fully with feedback through resilience and self-regulation, and by being happy to ask questions when we are not sure. This is how we push beyond our perceived limits.
  • Faith – We hold an unwavering belief in the difference we can all make. Faith underpins our culture of safety; we are trusting and respectful to our whole community, making it safe to share concerns and make mistakes. We encourage others through kindness to have faith in their own abilities, knowing that resilience and self-regulation will fuel their curiosity and exploration.

Securing Excellence Together

Excellence at KABH is a journey we embark on together. Our passionate educators provide a challenging and stimulating academic environment, equipping you with the personalised skills necessary to excel academically and in the world beyond these walls.

As the Headteacher, I am excited to lead this journey with you. Together, grounded in Honesty, Courage, and Faith, we continue to drive outstanding Opportunity and Success on a Global Stage for our whole community.

Warm regards,

Chris Willis – Headteacher – King’s Academy Bay House

Exploring, Achieving, Succeeding – Year 9 DofE Expedition

Our Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh students set off on their expedition on Thursday, and what a fantastic experience it was!

Blessed with beautiful weather and surrounded by stunning spring countryside, students showed excellent teamwork, resilience, and determination throughout. The expedition provided a brilliant opportunity to develop key life skills such as communication, problem-solving, independence, and leadership — all at the heart of the DofE award.

We are delighted to say that all students did incredibly well and fully embraced the challenge, making it an enjoyable and rewarding experience for everyone involved.

Well done to all participants — a fantastic achievement!

A Historic Moment for Our Pupils

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of 14 of our pupils who represented both the school and the Volunteer Cadet Corps (VCC) at the Tower of London this week.

They performed the Ceremony of the Dues — a tradition dating back to the 14th century, where the Constable of the Tower claims symbolic dues from ships entering the Port of London. This centuries-old ceremony is steeped in history and heritage, making it a truly significant national event.

This year’s performance was especially momentous, as it marked the first time in history that the Ceremony of the Dues has been carried out by a youth organisation. It was also a flagship event celebrating the 125th anniversary of the VCC, making it an extraordinary honour for our students.

Our pupils spent several days in London preparing and rehearsing on-site, demonstrating exceptional dedication, discipline, and commitment to meet the high standards required for such a prestigious occasion.

We are also delighted that this remarkable achievement was featured on ITV News, showcasing the significance of the event and the outstanding role our students played in making history.
