Examinations

Examinations are an important milestone in every student’s education, and we understand that they can feel both exciting and challenging. At King’s Academy Bay House, our aim is to ensure that every student is fully supported throughout the examination process.

Our Exams Team works closely with students, parents, teaching staff and a team of experienced invigilators to ensure that all examinations are conducted fairly, efficiently and in accordance with the regulations set by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ).

Whether you are preparing for your examinations, collecting your results or looking for information about certificates, you will find the key guidance and resources on this page.

Examination Certificate Collection

Examination certificates are issued by the awarding organisations several months after results are published.

Collection Evenings

Certificates for Summer 2026 examinations can be collected on the following dates in the STEM Centre (Sports Centre Complex):

Monday 30 November 2026 – 3.30pm to 5.00pm
Monday 14 December 2026 – 6.00pm to 7.30pm

Students will also be able to collect any coursework that is available on these evenings.

We encourage all students to attend and collect their certificates in person.

Please note that the Academy does not send examination certificates by post.

Where this is not possible, a representative may collect certificates on your behalf, provided a completed Certificate Collection Permission Form has been submitted in advance.

The nominated representative must bring valid photographic identification when collecting the certificates.

Keeping Your Certificates Safe

In accordance with JCQ guidance, the Academy will retain uncollected certificates for 12 months. After this time, certificates may be securely destroyed.

Examination certificates are valuable legal documents and should be kept in a safe place, as they may be required by universities, colleges and future employers.

If your certificates are lost or damaged, you will need to contact the relevant awarding organisation directly, as replacement arrangements vary between awarding organisations. In many cases, a replacement certificate cannot be issued and instead a Certifying Statement or Statement of Results may be available for a fee.

JCQ Information for Candidates

The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) publishes information and guidance for all candidates completing examinations and assessments.

All students are expected to read the relevant JCQ Information for Candidates documents before their examinations or assessments. These documents explain the regulations that apply and the responsibilities of every candidate, helping to ensure that examinations are conducted fairly and consistently for all.

Failure to follow the JCQ regulations may be treated as suspected malpractice and could result in sanctions being applied.
