Once you have submitted your application you will receive an email confirming the next steps (please check your spam  folder if you do not receive this).

Applications deadline

We request that all applications are submitted by Monday 3rd of March for planning purposes.

All students applying by the deadline date will be required to attend a guidance meeting. External candidates will be invited to attend a guidance meeting with a parent/carer, while internal candidates will be called for  a guidance meeting during the school day.

We anticipate that guidance meetings will begin in December 2024.

Taster days

Students planning to enter the Sixth Form in September 2025 are expected to attend a two-day induction course which will take place after completion of GCSE examinations. This will include ‘taster courses’ in all subjects, run mainly by staff programmed to teach the new Lower Sixth the following term.

Important dates relevant to new sixth formers will be published in the official acceptance letter sent to students early in the Summer Term.

Bay House Year 11 pupils

It is essential that you discuss your ideas fully with teachers and parents. Further details of the content of courses may be obtained from the appropriate Head of Department. Applications should be submitted electronically via the link above.

Students from other schools

Students who join Bay House from other schools are full and equal members of the Sixth Form. At present, the Sixth Form contains students from a range of different schools amounting to approximately half of the total student body.

Further information on how to apply can be obtained either from the careers staff of your present school, if you live locally, or the Sixth Form Office at Bay House, or online.

Entry Requirements

Students joining the Sixth Form should have achieved a minimum of 6 standard GCSE passes (grade 4-9), with a strong pass (grade 5 or higher) in at least 4. Please see individual course outlines on the course information page for further details. In addition Students who wish to take two or more from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths will need at least one grade 7 in a relevant science or Maths GCSE.

We also offer Alternative Level 3 Pathways in ‘Healthcare’ – reduced entry requirements for these courses can be found on the course information pages.

General information

As well as examination courses, students’ programmes normally include short courses, physical activities/work experience or community involvement and private study. Many combinations of courses are available, but whilst the School will endeavour to satisfy every reasonable request, staffing and other considerations may rule out some options.

All students entering the Sixth Form follow a weekly timetable of thirty 50 minute periods.
