Advice and Guidance
Bay House Sixth Form will provide you with friendly and professional advice and guidance:
- What kind of course is right for me?
- Who do I talk to for careers information?
- How do I organise a visit to the Sixth Form?
- How do I apply to the Sixth Form?
- Who do I speak to about enrolment details?
Each student has a personal tutor and joins a sixth form tutor group of about twenty students. The tutor, under the general direction of the Head of Sixth Form, has an oversight of each student’s work, personal development and future prospects. Students run their own Sixth Form Forum.
All students are strongly encouraged to become involved in some of the enrichment opportunities on offer. Some lead to formal qualifications while others are purely recreational! They are designed to develop students’ confidence and broaden their life experience.
Enrichment options currently include chess, creative ceramics, creative writing, debating society, haematology – the study of blood and Model United Nations.
Information about transport options for getting to college including bus timetables, bus passes and student facilities for parking cars, bikes and mopeds can be found in the resources section on our Letters and resources page (link opens in a new window), or in the Sixth Form Office.
Information about further and higher education is readily available, backed by the full range of prospectuses from universities and colleges, together with up-to-date information about careers. Our Post-18/Higher Education page features guidance documents, useful links and other resources on UCAS, applying for Higher Education and student finance.
Students can meet with a qualified Careers Adviser during their time at the Sixth Form. You will be advised of the date and time of your meeting by email; after the meeting you will receive a personalised Action Plan with useful links and next steps. This can be requested by emailing careers@kgabayhouse.uk
