Health and Social Care
Key Stage 4
We teach the OCR Cambridge National specification, which combines 60% Non-Examined Assessment work (completed in the classroom throughout the course) with 40% Terminal Exam.
There are three units, which are taught over two years:
- RO32 Principles of Care (Exam)
- RO33 Supporting Individuals through Life Events (NEA)
- RO35 Health Promotion Campaigns (NEA)
The two Non-Examined Assessment units are time-limited, meaning that they must be completed within a one-year span.
Pupils will learn a range of topics, including the factors that can affect health and how to improve people’s lifestyles, why people need care services (ill health, sports injury, pregnancy), what services are available to them, and the roles of professionals who work in health and care services. Throughout the course they will be expected to present their work in a variety of ways including a presentation to the rest of the class and extended writing essays.
