Opening hours (term time only)
- 8.00am – 4.00pm Monday – Thursday
- 8.00am – 3.30pm Friday
(There may be occasions when the Library is closed due to staff training, meetings or events. These closures will be advertised and where possible 24 hours’ notice will be given)
Resources
All resources in the library can be borrowed for four weeks, with the option to renew resources if required for longer.
- Fiction books are arranged alphabetically by genre.
- Non-fiction (or information) books are arranged in numerical order according to their subject.
- Chromebooks are available to borrow in the library for the completion of work, before and after school and at break times.
Students can use the library system Oliver 5 to search for books and reliable websites; as well as renew overdue books, write book reviews and reserve books that are currently unavailable. Students can access the library system by logging in with their school Google Account.
Weekly reminders for overdue resources are sent out automatically by email to the students. Parents/Carers will be asked to pay a flat fee of £5 for any lost or damaged resources.

The Day
A daily online newspaper for schools focusing on the big issues that are transforming the world. Helps explain current affairs in short illustrated articles, linking the real world to the curriculum. For more information and login details visit the Virtual Library.
eBooks and Audiobooks
- Students can borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks from the Public library for free. For more information on their BorrowBox service please see our Virtual Library.
Virtual Library
The Virtual Library is used to support the school community with 24 hour access to a library provision. Including links to latest news, ebooks and audiobooks, author events, book recommendations, reading challenges, support with research and much more.
Support
The library promotes reading for pleasure and supports students by providing a range of resources to facilitate learning. We host numerous events throughout the year including an author visit, the celebration of World Book Day as well as themed reading weeks. The library promotes research and study skills and works closely with students requiring reading support and intervention. Further information about reading can be found HERE.

The library runs the following clubs:
Book Club – Monday 3.10pm – 4.00pm
Sixth Form Study Skills – Tuesday lunchtime 12.30pm – 1.00pm
Anime and Manga – Wednesday 3.10pm – 4.10pm
Creative Writing – Thursday 3.10pm – 4.10pm
Library Lessons
All year groups enjoy library lessons as part of English. Our reading for pleasure lessons explore different authors and genres using a variety of mediums and students are able to borrow books from the library and receive advice & guidance from the library staff.
Library Social Media
The library actively uses social media to communicate with the school community on:
- Engaging ‘Reading for Pleasure’.
- News items and events.
- Promotion of books, films and other media.
- Information on learning skills and advice on how to research.
